Experiencing trauma can leave deep emotional and spiritual scars. As a Christian counselor, I understand the importance of turning to God’s Word for healing and restoration. Here are 7 trauma healing scriptures to guide you on your journey toward trauma healing.
1. Psalm 147:3 – Healing the Brokenhearted
“He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.”
God is the ultimate healer. When you are brokenhearted, He promises to mend your heart and heal your wounds. Trust in His loving care to bring you comfort and restoration.
2. Isaiah 61:1 – Proclaiming Freedom
“The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me, because the Lord has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners.”
God has a special mission to heal the brokenhearted and set captives free. Allow His Spirit to work in your life, bringing freedom from the darkness of trauma.
3. 2 Corinthians 1:3-4 – Comfort in Affliction
“Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God.”
God’s comfort is available to you in your time of trouble. He not only comforts you but also equips you to comfort others who are suffering.
4. Matthew 11:28-30 – Rest for the Weary
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”
Jesus invites you to come to Him with your burdens and find rest for your soul. His gentle and humble heart offers a place of peace and refuge from the weight of trauma.
5. Psalm 23:4 – Fear No Evil
“Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.”
God is with you even in the darkest valleys of life. His presence brings comfort and protection, allowing you to face your fears with confidence.
6. Isaiah 43:2 – Passing Through Waters
“When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze.”
God promises to be with you through every trial and challenge. No matter how overwhelming the situation, He will protect and sustain you.
7. Philippians 4:6-7 – Peace Beyond Understanding
“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
In times of anxiety and distress, turn to God in prayer. His peace, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your heart and mind, providing solace and healing.
